Business Arising from Minutes – 2006 Review
mosquitoes – Passed by Council to State Govt. who are linked with National Parks & Wildlife.
· No trial this year.
· NPW meeting next week with Chief Scientific Officer for Hunter who have the same problem. NPW keep in touch with Mike Muller and getting information direct from him.
· We will keep chiselling away at this one.
Oysters: McBride’s office is following up with the Minister of Environment in regard to our grant application – equipment to help with the clean up. Reasonably optimistic.
Sedimentation: Long term problem and solution. Graeme Smith is the champion of this cause.
· Following the recent presentation of cause and effects Graeme is supported by HBRG to take to the Flood Plain Risk Management Committee 7 or 8 points, and put together highlighted problems and good recommendations to reduce siltation.
Newsletter: Quarterly up and running. Allan Wilson has worked tirelessly and Sandy Robinson with the layout. The second issue is here tonight. 1400 copies – shops, clubs as well. A big thanks to Allan and Sandy.
Dog Bags: Working well with bins in place.
Maintenance Schedule: Every four months compile a proactive list of jobs to be done for Council. Better to feed it in – road edge repairs etc along Hardys Bay Parade.
· Any issues to be put on the list please email
· Suggestion for logs along the park in Araluen Drive past Blyth St. to stop cars and overnight campers.
· 2007 state elections – time to crank it up
· Good contact established at Council. HBRG have worked and tried to come up with solutions to help with problems and Council are happy to work with us. Hardys Bay is now up on the register.
Waterways: Meetings this month about boats in the bay – identification without breaking privacy issues.
· Also Brisbane Water Marine Watch – link on our website.
· If you see any boats in trouble contact Waterways on 4323 7171.
Correspondence: Various emails – general emails we deal with them through the Executive Committee.
· Environmental Trust – Seeding Grant – declined.
New/General Business:
Marina : Michael Sparkes and marina people had some concepts they to put to the Executive Committee.
· Had a look at the concept – too big. Back to the drawing board for different ideas and we will see what they are like.
· 5-7 stage process before even to DA – minimum 18 months to 2 years.
· DA passed was for the hire boats and canoes, not marina development.
· Good thing Consultant showing us the concept. Long term outcome is to enlarge it to around 80 berths (now 20 odd). Very early stages.
· HBRG’s stand? Don’t say no too early. Give feedback and see what the trade off is, but wait until this happens. Probably mid 2007.
· We would have a full meeting down the track.
· 5 or 6 Govt. areas before a plan is even submitted at DA level.
· More boat allocation in the bay – currently 130 swing moorings to increase to 200, 70 if which go to the marina.
· Traffic, parking and noise are major concerns.
· Upside was new parking for everyone. Downside was encroaching on the bay.
Pumpout: Killcare Marina was the only marina to put in a tender for the pumpout, but not until work is done. The terms were changed to put it on a supervised private marina.
Keep encouraging Machan’s Marina to apply. Problem is that the only one that has applied is Killcare Marina. Another option for Council was to put a floating pontoon out in the bay which would be a disaster.
Next meeting: AGM 7.30 pm Friday 27 February, 2006 at Hardys Bay Church Hall.
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 6.55 pm.
